Guests. Welcome to Zion. We are happy to have you worship with us. Please sign our guestbook located in the Narthex. About Holy Communion: We welcome to the Lord’s Table all who have repented of their sins and seek to amend their sinful life; all who believe that Jesus is truly present in, with, and under the bread and the wine; and all who believe that through the words “given and shed for you” forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are given. If this is your confession and you are a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, then come with a thankful heart and join us. If you are a visitor and would like to commune, please talk with Pastor Dan before the service. To help in preparing to receive Holy Communion open the front cover of the Burgundy hymnal or turn to pages 329 & 330. Gluten free wafers are available, please talk with an Elder or Pastor before the service if you would appreciate them.
As We Gather It is the last day of the Easter season. 50 days have past and today is the day for Christ’s Easter victory to be proclaimed to the ends of the earth through the power of the Holy Spirit. We learn how we are united in the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. The disciples are gathered together, and the Holy Spirit gives them all that they need to bring the nations of the world together as one people through the message of Christ’s death and resurrection and faith in Him. The fire which lit on the disciples’ head, is the same fire in us which drives us to share the same message of Christ and how all who believe in Him, will be saved.
We thank our Sunday School students for helping with our worship service this morning!
Ringing of the Bell and Welcome
Hymn “Creator Spirit, by Whose Aid” LSB 500
Invocation
Opening sentences – Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness about Me. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Confession and Absolution – Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen. Humble yourselves before God, confess your sins to Him, and ask for His forgiveness. All: Almighty God, merciful Father, we acknowledge our sinful nature and repent of our sins—those we do not know about and those we know we have done. We do not always love You and other people with our whole heart. We are often careless with Your gifts given to us. Heavenly Father, we are sorry. We want to live according to Your will. We want to honor You in our lives through all that we say and do. For the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, grant us Your forgiveness so that, as Your redeemed people, we may be fit temples for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and serve You in time and in eternity. God be gracious to you and strengthen your faith. In the stead and by the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Be at peace as your sins are forgiven. Amen.
Introit – Psalm 104:24, 27–28, 30 – Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia. O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. These all look to you, to give them their food in due season. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia.
Collect of the Day – O God, on this day You once taught the hearts of Your faithful people by sending them the light of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
Our Pentecost Readings will be read at this time by some of the Sunday School students.
As they read there will be an activity done which is to signify the Message of Christ going to the world through the power of the Holy Spirit as He worked through the Apostles, Evangelists and eventually through each one of us.
Nicene Creed – I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life X of the world to come. Amen.
Hymn “Holy Spirit Ever Dwelling” LSB 650
Sermon
Prayers of the Church
The Lord’s Prayer – Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
We gather our Tithes and Offerings
Service of the Sacrament
Preface – The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
Proper Preface – It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who ascended above the heavens and, sitting at Your right hand, poured out on this day the promised Holy Spirit on His chosen disciples. For all this the whole earth rejoices with exceeding joy. Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and singing:
Sanctus LSB 161
Prayer of Thanksgiving – Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross. Graciously receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
The Words of our Lord – Consecration of the Elements
Proclamation of Christ – As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Amen

SUNDAY SCHOOL… A new and retooled Sunday School is being proposed for Zion. The goal would be to reach out to the Clyman community this fall. It will be given a new name as it will not meet on Sundays. An example could be Zion Bible Club. Before this is offered, we will need people in place to help teach, organize and lead. Contact Erica Goehl or Deanna Gochanour. Thank you.
Please keep the following in your Special Prayers:
Dawn Pint as she has been diagnosed with cancer and treatments will begin soon.
Dick Basol as he works through health issues, was hospitalized and recuperating at home now.
Dee Dee Wille as she recovers from hand surgery on June 5th.
We keep in our prayers all in our congregation who are recovering from surgery, and all who are in need of God’s comfort and healing.
Please help yourself to the pictures on the table in the narthex.
