Guests. Welcome to Zion. We are happy to have you worship with us. Please sign our guestbook located in the Narthex. About Holy Communion: We welcome to the Lord’s Table all who have repented of their sins and seek to amend their sinful life; all who believe that Jesus is truly present in, with, and under the bread and the wine; and all who believe that through the words “given and shed for you” forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are given. If this is your confession and you are a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, then come with a thankful heart and join us. If you are a visitor and would like to commune, please talk with Pastor Dan before the service. To help in preparing to receive Holy Communion open the front cover of the Burgundy hymnal or turn to pages 329 & 330. Gluten free wafers are available, please talk with an Elder or Pastor before the service if you would appreciate them.
As We Gather Trinity Sunday is set aside for us to learn from the Bible the very nature of God. We as human beings cannot understand the one true God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three divine beings in One God. We only know what we are told. All three distinct persons are one God. We have given each person an area of work even though they work in all things as one. We recognize the Father as Creator, the Son as Savior, and the Holy Spirit as Sanctifier. Today we join the rest of creation in praising our God, as we speak of our creation, our salvation, and the faith we have been given to believe in and trust the one true God we will live with for all eternity.
Ringing of the Bell and Welcome
Hymn “Glory Be to God the Father” LSB 506
Invocation – In the name of the Triune God, the Father, the X Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
Opening Sentences Psalm 16 – Blessed be the Holy Trinity and the undivided Unity. Let us give glory to Him because He has shown His mercy to us. I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Confession Psalm 145:18; 50:15; Isaiah 55:6; 1 Samuel 3:9 – We stand before You, the one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to confess our sin which separates us from You. We know how we should live as Your children, but we fail to live that way choosing to live according to the world. At times we have forgotten that we bear Your image and have done evil. At times we have forgotten to live a life responding to Your sacrifice for us and have acted selfishly. At times we have ignored the voice of the Holy Spirit challenging us through our conscience, and we have followed the sinful desires of our own heart. We have lived for ourselves rather than for You or our neighbor. We have not loved as we have been loved. For all our sin, known and unknown, we are sorry, forgive us dear Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord. By the Holy Spirit, renew us and guide us to live as people who know and love you. Amen.
Absolution – The Father who has saved you in His Son, promises, I am the God who forgives your sins, and in the blood of My Son, wash you clean. In Him your sins are remembered no more. In Him your sins are forgiven. In His stead, I forgive your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Let us thank and praise our God: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Hymn of Praise – Gloria in Excelsis – Glory to God in the highest, and peace to His people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, We worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for Your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God; You take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. You are seated at the right hand of the Father; receive our prayer. For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen
Prayer of the Day – Almighty and everlasting God, You have given us grace to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity by the confession of a true faith and to worship the Unity in the power of the Divine Majesty. Keep us steadfast in this faith and defend us from all adversities; for You, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, live and reign as one God, now and forever. Amen
Old Testament Reading – Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31 – Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. Vs22-31 “The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth. I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
Our Epistle or New Testament Reading – Acts 2:14a, 22-36 – Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: vs22-36 “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him: “ ‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’ “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’ “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
Verse – Alleluia. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory! Alleluia.
The Holy Gospel – John 8:48-59 – The Holy Gospel according St. John, the eighth chapter. Glory to You, O Lord. The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?” “I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.” At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?” Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, O Christ.

Proper Preface – It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, who with Your only-begotten Son and the Holy Spirit are one God, one Lord. In the confession of the only true God, we worship the Trinity in person and the Unity in substance, of majesty coequal. Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name evermore praising You and singing:
Sanctus LSB 178
Prayer of Thanksgiving – Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross. Grant us faithfully to eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us do in His own testament. Graciously receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
The Words of Our Lord – Consecration of the Elements
The Lord’s Prayer – Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Pax Domini LSB 180 – The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you. Amen

Post-Communion Thanksgiving – O God the Father, the fountain and source of all goodness, who in loving-kindness sent Your only-begotten Son into the flesh, we thank You that for His sake You have given us pardon and peace in this Sacrament, and we ask You not to forsake Your children but always to rule our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that we may be enabled constantly to serve You; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Benediction – May God the Father, the creator who gave you life, continue to bless you. May God the Son, who redeemed you from sin, death and satan, continue to keep you in His care and strength. May God the Holy Spirit who worked in you a living faith which will guide you to eternal life in heaven, continue to keep you in that one true faith. Amen Blessed be the Holy Trinity and the undivided Unity.

SUNDAY SCHOOL…A new and retooled Sunday School is being proposed for Zion. The goal would be to reach out to the Clyman community this fall. It will be given a new name as it will not meet on Sundays. An example could be Zion Bible Club. Before this is offered, we will need people in place to help teach, organize and lead. Contact Erica Goehl or Deanna Gochanour. Thank you.
Please keep the following in your Special Prayers:
Pray for Dick Basol who had surgery on Friday, and is hospitalized.
Pray for the following in need of healing: Dee Dee Wille, Dawn Pint, Joyce Weisjohn, and Dick Basol.
Gretchen, the friend of Theresa’s brother Steve, who has entered hospice care.
We keep in our prayers all in our congregation who are recovering from surgery, and all who are in need of God’s comfort and healing.
Please help yourself to the pictures on the table in the narthex.
The new Portals of Prayer are here. They are located on the table in the Narthex and behind the pews. Be sure to pick up a copy.
JUST A REMINDER… If you are the last person leaving the church, please be sure to check that all lights are turned off, and don’t forget about the bathrooms. Also, make sure that all the doors are locked. Double check them by giving the door a good tug after they have closed to make sure the lock has latched.
Donations/Memorials – Do you have a memorial/donation in honor of someone and are not sure what fund to donate to? Council is recommending memorials/donations be directed toward ‘Current Trustee Projects’. The current project they are working on is fixing the steeple. There is a large list of other projects coming up, so the ‘Current Trustee Projects’ will be utilized for a while. If you would rather give to something different, please contact our treasurer, Erica Goehl, for a different suggestion.
