Welcome and Happy Easter to our guests
and all who are worshiping this Easter morning!
Guests. We are happy to have you worship with us. Please sign our guestbook located in the Narthex. About Holy Communion: We welcome to the Lord’s Table all who have repented of their sins and seek to amend their sinful life; all who believe that Jesus is truly present in, with, and under the bread and the wine; and all who believe that through the words “given and shed for you” forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are given. If this is your confession and you are a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, then come with a thankful heart and join us. If you are a visitor and would like to commune, please talk with Pastor Dan before the service. To help in preparing to receive Holy Communion open the front cover of the Burgundy hymnal or turn to pages 329 & 330. Gluten free wafers are available, please talk with an Elder or Pastor before the service if you would appreciate them.
Ringing of the Bell and Welcome
Zions Bell Choir “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High”
Hymn “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” LSB 457
Invocation and Opening sentences – In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things! The LORD’s right hand is lifted high; the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!” I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. “The angels asked, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here! He is Risen!’” He is Risen Indeed. Alleluia
Confession and Absolution – We cannot enter God’s presence as we are. Our sinful condition falls short of the glory of God. Let us confess our many sins, to God our heavenly Father, those known to us, and those unknown. All: Most merciful God, I confess that I am by nature sinful and unclean. I have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done and by what I have left undone. I have not loved You with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. I am sorry. As a family of believers, we bow before You in faith on this Easter morning, taking refuge in the mercy You give to us through Your Son’s triumphant victory over sin, death, and the grave. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us. Enliven us by Your Holy Spirit. Fill our hearts with joy that we may walk by faith this day and always to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. Redeemed children of God, rejoice and be glad! God has not merely overlooked your sin. He sent His Son as one of us. He allowed His Son to die and pay for all sin. In the Empty tomb, our heavenly Father proclaimed to the world that He accepted His Son’s perfect payment for our sin. The risen Lord has conquered death and delivered us from our sin. Our heavenly Father has forgiven and forgotten our sin in His Son. As a called and ordained servant of the risen Lord Jesus Christ, it is my joy this Easter morning, to announce God’s grace to you. I forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the X Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Prayer of the Day – Almighty God, You have given us the joy of celebrating our Lord’s resurrection. Allow us to take the joy of the empty tomb into every day of our lives. Give us joy in serving You and in sharing His message of life for all who believe in Him until You bring us home to live with You. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Old Testament Reading Job 19:25-27 – I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!
Epistle or New Testament Reading 1 Corinthians 15:20-26 – But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the first fruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
The Easter Gospel John 20:1-18 – Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) Then the disciples went back to where they were staying. Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.
We Confess our Faith in our Lord and what His Resurrection means in our lives! – The Second Article of the Apostles Creed – All: I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
What does this mean?
All: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true.

Preface Isaiah 25:6-9 – On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine- the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain He will destroy the shroud that enfolds all people, the sheet that covers all nations; He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. In that day they will say, Surely this is our God; We trusted in Him, and He saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.

In love You have given Your Son, Jesus Christ, into death for us and raised Him to life again; so raise us from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit. Grant that the light of Christ shines in our hearts now and forever; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Easter Affirmation – Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
We know that Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; death no longer has dominion over Him. For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like His.
Benediction Numbers 6:24–26 – The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and X give you peace. Amen Amen Alleluia! He Is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
